Anique Granger

Anique GrangerAnique Granger was born in the heart of the great Canadian Prairies, into one of Saskatchewan's most musical francophone family-tree. Combining her maternal side's melodies with her father's passion for words, Anique developed into a devoted guitarist with an undeniable love for songwriting. Her calling soon lead her to two First Singer-Songwriter Prizes in Saskatchewan, and then – at 16 years of age, to Festival International de la Chanson de Granby Semi-Finals.

In 1995, she formed a duo, Polly-Esther with violinist Rachel Duperreault, a childhood friend, that grew into a renowned folk band. Performing at festivals and events within the province, and then cross-Canada and abroad, the duo was twice nominated to Western Canada Music Awards Outstanding Francophone Recording of the Year, which they won in 2003.

After 3 albums and 10 years of tours in Canada, Europe and the United States, in 2005 Anique decides to embark on her solo project and self-produces 2 EPs, one in French, the other in English and both 100% her own original material to continue her quest through Chansons most capital events.

In 2008, and now living in Montreal, Anique launched her first solo CD – Pepins, co-produced with Shawn Sasyniuck –and since has continued touring Québec, Canada, and abroad to France and Switzerland,  solo or with her band.

A self-taught guitarist, Anique Granger is drawing us into a captivating and sensuous place, where the strength of her guitar playing admirably supports her melodious voicing. A gifted musician, her mind still shaped by the colors of her Prairies skies,  she is mapping the landscape of new urban life to offer her unique folk, made of contrasts, a universe built on roots, love for words and melody and love for life, simple and full of live sampled sounds.
