More than 120,000 people visited the Saskatchewan Pavilion at the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.
Initial projections were that about 5,000 people a day would pass through the pavilion. On average, more than 7,000 passed through a day. Among the popular attractions were the green screen, where visitors can get their photo taken in front of a Saskatchewan backdrop – nearly 7,000 photos have been taken to date.
Also popular was a photo with the Mounties. Two RCMP officers were at the pavilion on a rotating basis, and they were busy posing for photos the entire time they were at the pavilion. Bison burgers were the most popular food item.
“Whether people go into our Saskatchewan experience centre and learn about Saskatchewan by reading our factoids, or whether they learn about our province by sampling some of our food and listening to our musicians, they are being exposed to our culture, and that is the ultimate goal,” Director of Marketing and Production Trent Fraser said during the Games.
