Elrose Excited to be Part of Canadian History

By June Hintze, Mayor, Elrose
The Town of Elrose was excited to see the Olympic 2010 Torch Relay arrive on January 11, 2010 at 8:43 a.m.

The local Torch Committee of Mayor June Hintze, Chris, Donna, Sus, Melody, and Dan planned the coordinated festivities. Grade 3, 4 and 5 students decorated Maple Leafs onto Luminary bags to decorate and light the route. Brenda, our Choir Leader, had her 35-person choir on a horse-drawn sleigh singing ahead of the Torch. They stopped at the Town office to await the Torch bearers. They wore pinafores with handmade Maple Leafs.

The Elrose Lions Club was in charge of street security. The Elrose Lioness hosted a Pancake/Sausage Breakfast for 450 people. We had the Lucky Lake School visit and partake in the Elrose Composite School Olympic Games for the day.

As Mayor of Elrose, being part of Canadian History was very overwhelming and will forever be a highlight of the community accomplishments.
